Jobs and Internships

July-December 2012 INTERNSHIP

CAMPUSPEAK is offering a half-year paid internship from July 9 – December 14, 2012. Applicants may be current undergraduates or recent graduates. The internship takes place in our headquarters in Aurora, CO—just outside of Denver. The position pays $9.50/hour for 30 hours per week, plus the use of a furnished townhouse located one mile from our office. The position is for a contracted period, does not offer benefits and comes with no promise of a permanent position (although four of our current staff members were once interns).

This Fall 2012 intern will work with our Interactive Workshops Director to set up and manage the campus appearances by our 60-member Facilitator Team. IW (“Interactive Workshops”) bookings tend to be complex and thus require an intern who can successfully manage lists of details with great accuracy. We will be launching new workshops during this internship, so the intern will have a chance to help create and promote a new product. You will work directly with our customers at campuses across the country, helping them plan for successful workshop events, so it’s a great experience for someone interested in event planning, project management and marketing.

The intern will also be expected to fill various support roles for other areas of the company and will get some experience working with our speakers and marketing division. Projects with these areas of the company will be assigned based on the intern’s initiative and skills and only when the intern’s primary responsibilities with the Interactive Workshops Division are under control.

We are looking for an intern with a great attitude who is so organized it intimidates less-organized people. This internship is for the person who was organizing spreadsheets in grade school—the person who gets more done by 10 a.m. than most people get done in a day. It’s also important that our intern is someone who can think quickly on his/her feet, approach frustrations with a sense of calm and a healthy sense of humor. You will be working with very busy professionals, so strong, confident communication skills (both verbal and written) are a big plus.

The perfect applicant will have strong recommendations from former employers and supervisors, Student Life staff members or others familiar with his/her actual work. Knowledge of Basecamp, Highrise, Excel, InDesign and the Mac platform are all plusses.

We will cooperate with any candidate taking online courses or using this internship to fulfill academic requirements. Several past interns have had additional evening jobs to supplement their income. We look for candidates with a proven student leadership history who have great communication skills and a strong orientation toward problem solving and productivity. You have to be a self-starter, be able to manage multiple tasks and dive into projects without a ton of management and guidance. If you are friendly, outgoing, a problem-solver and a self-starter—and you can strongly demonstrate these qualities to us—this could be a great experience for you. We run a very busy, but friendly office, and work ethic goes a long way with our team.

This is ideal for those with professional ambitions in Higher Education, public relations, event management, small business/entrepreneurship, business, logistics, association management and more.

If this sounds interesting to you, please email us a cover letter explaining your interest in working with CAMPUSPEAK, a current resume and an essay on the topic of “The Three Biggest Issues Confronting Today’s College Students” no later than March 15 to Liz Kelly at kelly@campuspeak.com. Be sure you include at least two letters of recommendation from your references.

Finalists will be notified by March 22 with Skype interviews scheduled by March 30. If an internship offer is made, a firm commitment will be required. An offer will be pending on a successful completion of a criminal background and credit check.
