CAMPUSPEAK welcomes Chris Blackburn
It’s the season to bring on new speakers here at CAMPUSPEAK and we’re excited to introduce CHRIS BLACKBURN to our dynamic roster.
Chris, a proud native of West Virginia, has an array of experience that makes him a great and energetic speaker. From being a higher ed professional for seven years, a contestant on NBC’s The Biggest Loser and working as a CAMPUSPEAK facilitator, Chris’ knowledge expands to issues from health and wellness to character building.
CAMPUSPEAK recognized his dedication to the betterment of students. From his full time position at University of North Carolina, Pembroke to his educational keynotes, Chris aims to leave his mark on every student he interacts with.
“Chris has an intense drive to positively impact students’ lives. We are excited to have a male speaking about body image issues. Chris has a wealth of knowledge on the issue and how cool is it that he was an NBC’s The Biggest Loser contestant,” states Amy Butler, Lectures Coordinator.
When asked what he was most excited about with this speaking opportunity, Chris responded, “I would say first and foremost is the opportunity to engage with college students, staff, and faculty that can identify with the struggles and triumphs I have had in my life. Conversations about obesity, eating disorders and body image are not ones that people are ever excited to have, but they are necessary. Being able to spread my message, as an obesity survivor, is going to be an amazing experience!”
In addition to Chris’ busy life as a campus professional and speaker, he spends the majority of his free time training for a variety of events. Last year, he competed in two marathons, an Olympic distance triathlon, and a 200-mile relay race in California. He is an avid traveler, constantly in search of the best French Onion soup, and is a proud volunteer for his fraternity, Theta Xi.
Chris’s program, One Size Fits Most, is perfect for body image, eating disorders, first year experience and self-esteem programming. Chris also has an additional program, Rewriting the Man Code, which dives into messages about masculinity and the societal role of men—a great message at men’s leadership events, fraternity wellness convocations, new student orientation and more.
