Sex Under the Influence
In college,
Joel was a model student – fraternity president, involved in
all the activities, knew all the administrators. But when it came
time for parties, Joel learned to mix sex and alcohol.
Like many students, most of Joel’s sexual encounters came under the
influence. Alcohol gave him the extra courage he needed that night,
and a justification the next morning. The pattern continued after
graduation, and as a result Joel is living with HIV today. His program
is part alcohol awareness, part sexual health lesson. He encourages
students to help their friends make smarter decisions surrounding
sex and alcohol. Joel has spoken to over 1 million students since
1993, earning top national honors from both the Association of Fraternity
Advisors and the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
“Joel Goldman's presentation truly captures a difficult topic
in a relevant and interactive way. He built a positive relationship with the students in the audience and helped them grasp the need to be
responsible in their alcohol consumption and sexual practices."

Joel
will connect with any student audience. As a past staff person
for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Elizabeth Glazier Pediatric
AIDS Foundation, and Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity, Joel has vast experience
reaching young people. "Sex Under the Influence" is
the perfect choice for alcohol awareness programs, wellness weeks,
Greek events, and new student orientation.
Joel was amazing! He was extremely friendly and easy to work with. During the presentation, he had the audience's full attention. He showed a video that had people laughing, and he used humor to keep everyone interested. In the end, it was the quietest I had ever witnessed our greek community. Everyone was just so into the presentation. He definitely captures audience's attention and has a great message!
