SNAFU: Greeks and Grades
Fraternity with the Best Parties Also Lowest in Grades
Greek Grades Suffer During Pledging
Sorority Members Skip More Classes Than Non-Greek Counterparts
You probably won't see these headlines in your local newspapers. Sadly, these wouldn't even be news. Our communities have come to expect poor academic performance as a FACT of fraternity and sorority life.
Situation Normal: All Fouled Up! Greek Life's commitment to scholarship is definitely a SNAFU!
It's time for Greek communities to realize that emphasis on academic achievement is not only congruent with our founding values, it's also an incredible route to positive image building! One of the best ways to fight the negative stereotypes that hold us back is to respond with a strong, visible and real commitment to improved academic performance. If our chapters and communities are truly excellent, it's time to change the myth that Greeks and grades don't mix.
Mark truly customized his presentation to meet the needs of Greek students at Northern Arizona University. He let students see him as a personal, professional, and fellow community member, which set him up for a successful delivery of important academic strategies.

We can talk all day long about the greatness of our organizations, our Greek communities, and our impressive alumni. But talk is cheap when our GPA is in the toilet. What Greek members do inside and outside the classroom has a profound and lasting effect on faculty, potential members, and administrators.
In this realistic and interactive program, Mark gives students real answers to get things moving in the right direction. His style is powerful and amusing, driving home the crucial message of Greek academic performance. He talks about scholarship programs, guidelines, and questions our willingness to hold each other accountable. No matter the academic climate on your campus, Mark's positive motivational message can help elevate scholarship to a higher level.
This program is perfect for new member convocations, leadership conferences, or for any Greek community needing a wake up call on academic success.
If I Knew Then What I Know Now
Getting new students off to a fast and able start is always a challenge. If only we could give them some of the information that would help them avoid the most common pitfalls. If I Knew Then What I Know Now gives them a leg up with practical tips for success. Mark emphasizes the importance of academic success to his new student audiences, and he motivates them to approach college deliberately, with an eye toward personal growth. The time between new student orientation and graduation is full of lessons, and Mark’s program helps students begin that journey with their eyes open.
